Privacy Policy
Effective date: 26 October 2026
PDF 123 (“the app”) is a free, ad-supported Android app (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
Your files stay on your device
All PDF tools – convert, merge, split, compress, sign, protect, OCR, translate and the others – run entirely on your device. Files you open, scan or create are never uploaded to us or to any server. Results are stored in the app’s private storage and, if you choose, copied to your device’s Downloads folder. Uninstalling the app deletes its private storage.
- Files: the app only reads files you pick through the Android system picker or share to it. It does not request access to all your storage.
- Camera / scanning: document scanning uses Google’s on-device ML Kit document scanner. The app itself does not request the camera permission and only receives the final scanned PDF.
- Text recognition (OCR) and translation: performed on-device with Google ML Kit. Translation may download language packs from Google once; your text is not sent.
- Web page to PDF: the page you enter is loaded directly from that website, like in a browser.
Advertising
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:
- the device’s advertising ID (reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads),
- IP address and approximate location derived from it,
- device and app information (model, OS version, app version, language),
- ad interactions and diagnostic data (for example crashes of the ads SDK).
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. See How Google uses information from apps and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Consent: in the EEA, UK, Switzerland and other regions where it’s required, the app shows Google’s consent form (User Messaging Platform) before any ads are requested. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices (ads). Without consent to personalised ads, Google may still show non-personalised ads.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To find bugs and see which tools are useful, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. They collect:
- which tools and screens are used, how long a task took, how many files it had, and the type of error when one fails (for example “damaged file”);
- crash reports: the technical details of the crash (stack trace, app version) and the app’s state just before it;
- device information: model, Android version, app version, language, and approximate country derived from the IP address;
- a random app-instance identifier created by Firebase, which isn’t linked to your name, account or advertising ID.
Never collected: your files, their names, their text or images, passwords, or anything you type (except a message you choose to send with Send feedback, below). Analytics doesn’t collect the advertising ID and isn’t used to personalise ads.
This data is processed by Google on our behalf (Firebase privacy information). Analytics event data is kept for 2 months and crash reports for 90 days. You can turn both off at any time in Settings → Share usage and crash reports; collection stops immediately.
Feedback you send
Settings → Send feedback in the app (also offered after repeated errors) and the contact form on this site send what you type in the form, an optional link you add, and the app version, Android version, device model and language to us through Google Forms. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. Please don’t include personal details. We use these messages only to fix problems and improve the app, and delete them once they’re dealt with. To have a message deleted sooner, ask through the contact form and describe the message.
Data we keep
We don’t operate servers for this app and don’t sell your personal data. Preferences (theme, page size and similar) are kept only on your device. Apart from feedback messages you send, we can see only the aggregated, anonymous statistics described above.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
Files are kept in app-private storage that other apps can’t read. “Protect PDF” uses AES-256 encryption.
Your rights
Usage statistics and crash reports aren’t linked to your identity, so we can’t find or delete one person’s data; turning the setting off stops all further collection. For data processed by Google for ads, use your device’s ad settings or Google’s privacy controls.
Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above changes when we do.
Contact
For questions or privacy requests, use the contact form (it sends your message through Google Forms, as described under “Feedback you send”).
